Whimcycle Series



Construction
Granite, stainless steel, aluminum, kinetics.

This is a series of works completed in Birmingham, Alabama over 1999 and 2000.
They were created for two reasons:

The desire to explore highly active interactive kinetics without the sculpture building up enough energy to cause serious injury. This is surprisingly difficult with larger work, which can become deadly quite quickly.

I had requests from art lovers that I consider building sculpture that could be collected and displayed without rebuilding the foundations of their houses.
